Rocket Box π (#16)
The retro style of the red rocket invokes memories of the classic red wagon, the Radio Flyer. My Radio Flyer was not just a wagon, but a race car, a pirate ship, a submarine, or a spacecraft.
This 10″ tall rocket is from Big Leaf Maple burl, dyed with black and red layers. The fins and finials are maple, dyed with India ink.
Number 15 in the Rocket Box series.
Maple burl with 4 layers of dye (black and 2 blues, each sanded back, then yellow). Dyed maple legs and finials. About 10-3/4″ tall.

Camphor Burl with African Blackwood fins and finials, suspended via a brass rod over an Elm Burl cap. Nose cone (lid) attached with magnets. About 11.5″ tall.
Rocket Box ν (Nu – #13)
Maple Burl with African Blackwood finials, fins, and ring. Magnetically attached nose cone (lid). About 8.25″ tall.

Rocket Box λ (Lambda – #11)
Maple Burl, African Blackwood, Brass, magnets
About 11″ tall.
Rocket Box “Kappa” ( my Rocket Box series is “numbered” with the Greek alphabet – this is #10).
Kappa is maple burl with dyed maple fins and finials. The nose cone (lid) attaches with magnets.
About 11-1/4″ tall with a 6″ “wing span”.
Eta is the seventh installment in my Rocket Box series. A little over 5-1/2″ tall. Maple burl with dyed maple legs and accents.
Eta is a shuttle that transports people and cargo between larger rockets or to the planet’s surface. (Passengers on Eta frequently ask about the shuttle’s ETA.)
Rocket Box (“iota” – #9 in the series). Body and base are Maple burl, fins and finials are dyed maple. Supported on a brass rod.
Stands about 11″ high. Rocket body (with finials) is about 9″ tall and 2-1/4 diameter.
Nose cone (the lid) is attached with magnets.
